Hard Disk  This is the main storage device of the computer.It is present inside the CPU box.It can store large amout of data.

Magnetic Tape  It is used for storing high volume data,these can be much less expensive.They are used in large computer systems and commonly packed in cartridges and cassettes.

CD/DVD  They are circular in shape can be easily carried from one place to another.Most of the software programs,songs or games are available on CDs.

Pen/Flash Drive  It is small in size and can be easily carried in a pocket or a key chain. It is used to store data and conveniently transfer to another computer.

A pen drive uses flash memory which is a technology that allows data to be electronically stored,erased and programmed.

RAM (Random Access Memory)

RAM is read/write memory.Information can be written onto,and read from it.When a computer starts,it loads the operating system into RAM.

ROM  Read-only Memory

It is raed only memory on which data is written but cannot be removed or changed.It is non-volatile and retains the information even when the power is switched OFF.
